LEBANON — One of southwest Missouri’s premier young points, Lebanon 2019 Kamryn Mack is gearing up for a big junior season after a strong summer competing for Yanders Law.
A 5’9 guard, Mack helped Lebanon go 23-6 a year ago and capture a district championship. She played in all 29 games and averaged 8.9 points along with 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists. A strong ballhandler, Mack is able to create for herself or others off the bounce.
Lebanon graduated four seniors a year ago and Mack says the team is gearing poised for another big season.
“I think we are going to do really well this season,” Mack said. “We just graduated four seniors that were really good. We have some big shoes to fill. I think we have some girls that can step up though. Our goal is still to win districts. Hopefully we can go from there.”
Mack put together a strong spring and summer competing for Yanders Law and says the experience has helped her game grow.
“We travelled a lot and I thought we did well at our tournaments,” Mack said. “I played better than I have. Coaches have been after me on some things, and I think I’m getting better.
“Coach Rob (Yanders) pushes me harder than anyone. He wants us to do well and play our best. He’s helped me with my game like nobody else has.”
Mack says she enjoys watching NBA guard Stephen Curry plays and tries to take elements of the star’s game and make them her own.
“I feel like he is a good person to watch for ball handling and creating space and moving with the ball,” Mack said. “I try to watch him when I can. I think he has helped my game. I guess I try to base my game off him. He’s just an all-around good player.”
