A look at several seniors who are putting together a strong season.

SWMOBasketball takes a look at several senior guards who are putting together a strong season.

Madi Sutt, 5’8, G, 2019, Wheatland (pictured)

Sutt is a creative player who can score off the glass and find enough space to get her shot off while being defended by a taller opponent. Sutt has good feet and an eye for the game. She looks to create openings for her teammates near the glass and behind the 3-point line. That said, sometimes she has to play for herself. She can create her own looks and score when things aren’t running well.

Faith Campbell, 5’7, G, 2019, Lebanon

A by the book point guard who can break a press and find the open teammate. Campbell doesn’t seek the spotlight and rarely looks to do something for herself. She weighs her options and lets the team system to the work. She can score when she has the look, but she strives to get her teammates buckets. An excellent team first player who can handle the ball and run the show.  Campbell is averaging 5.0 assists per game this season.

Lizzie Drennan, 5’4, G, 2019, Willard

Drennan is a competitive player who leads by example and looks to contribute on both ends. When her shot is falling, the game just comes to her. Fortunately she’s a strong-minded player who hustles and plays the game at full speed. She moves well as a point and can stay with her opponents on defense and force them to a corner where they throw the ball away. A player who enjoys defending the ball as much as she does shooting it.

Autumn Garrett, 5’4, G, 2019, Skyline

A quick scorer for Skyline who can hit important shots when the game is on the line. Garrett is a physical guard who can read a defense and work inside for a basket. She shoots a high percentage jump shot and can connect from distance as well. Garrett is also a solid player on defense. She has quick hands and keeps opponents on their toes and somewhat distracted. A smart player who can get in her opponent’s head.

Rheagan Hancock, 5’7, G, 2019, Bolivar

An intelligent player for Bolivar who brings leadership, understanding and years of experience to the floor. Hancock is an underrated player in the area. She can handle the ball as a point, score off it as a shooting guard and move inside and score as a forward. She has a versatile skillset and a good work ethic. An important leader that can be counted on to play tough defense and score on offense. She is averaging 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season for the Liberators.

Emily Rice, 5’6, G, 2019, Buffalo

A solid guard off the ball who can catch and shoot before the defense has a chance to react. Rice has made a name for herself as a scoring threat for Buffalo as she can find her rhythm from mid-range and out. She has the ability to play the point if she needs to and can create some space herself. She looks to score, but is also good at finding open teammates inside.

Josie Sanders, 5’7, G/F, 2019, Willard

Sanders sees time as a guard and an undersized forward. She does both well and can shot from distance and rebound inside. Sanders is a fluid player for Willard. She does a lot for her team and sometimes doesn’t get the credit she deserves. Sanders works hard and sees the floor well. She makes good passes and doesn’t turn the ball over when she does something for herself. A strong player who does a lot of dirty work.

Katie Schmidt, 5’7, G/F, 2019, Monett

A good defender across the board who can stretch the floor and connect from deep. Schmidt has good footwork and plays well both inside the paint and on the perimeter. She fits well as a guard and can play the forward position due to her strength and grit as a rebounder and basket protector. She is an aggressive player who can contribute with and without the ball.

Alyssa Williams, 5’7, G, 2019, Monett

A ball handler for Monett who can break a full court press and score a layup on the other side of the floor. Williams is very athletic and uses her speed to her advantage. She has good handles and can be counted on to take the pressure off her teammates during crunch time. She has good instincts and avoids problem areas of the floor. She is an unselfish player who can feed teammates the ball and spot openings on the floor.
