Recapping 2020-2021 boys’ action (Part I)

Aaron Jennings recaps the action at the second annual Future50 Camp&Showcase.

LEBANON, Mo. — The second annuall SWMO Basketball Future 50 Showcase brought together many of the region’s top players last Sunday at Lebanon High. Here is a look at the Class of 2022-2024 boys’ basketball players at the event. The players are listed by the team they played on and their jersey number.

Team E  Zac Moore

(PLAYER, CLASS, SCHOOL, HT, NUMBER)

Nolan Brawley                     2023 Crane           5’6    100

A feisty player who can score with the ball in his hands. He is very athletic for his size and he goes after plays left and right. A smart player from Crane. One who knows his game and can put on a show when he is looking to score.

Wyatte Cotrel          2022 Plato            5’6    101

A natural guard with a good eye for defensive schemes and someone who shoots before the defense gets to him. He plays with the ball well and can work his way around screens. He has a good feel for the game and competes hard.

Brandon DeWolf   2022 Alton            5’9    102

An active player who finds ways to contribute when his shot is on and when he struggles to connect from distance. He attacks the basket and he fights his way inside against taller opponents. A solid offensive player who finds ways to get on the board.

Tom Emerick            2023 Mansfield    6’2    103

A tall player who can use his size and strength to his advantage. He has good length and can jump well and even threw down a dunk in warm-ups. He plays big and can put his head down and score in the mid-range. Also a sharp corner shooter.

Brett Hall                 2022 Willard                     5’5    105

A shorter player with solid speed and a knack for connecting tough baskets from distance. He shoots quickly and can adjust his shot to get it off in time. Also a scrappy defender and is good at staying in front of the ball.

Austin James           2024 Licking          5’4    106

A good defender and an athletic player. He plays with the ball in his hands but he saw time as a scoring guard and a catch-and shooter player. He sees the floor well for his size and showed promise.

Lucas Lakey              2023 Southwest   5’6    107

He plays off the ball a lot and it took several minutes for him to find his place. But Lakey looked to score a bit and proved he has good vision and can find the open man.

Kasey Lehmann       2023 Bradleyville 6’1    108

He plays big and he makes good moves on the block. He’s strong inside and can use his shoulder s to feel for space and push his way to the basket and score.

Devin Oliver             2022 Hillcrest       6’0    109

Oliver has size and a feel for the wing position. He handles the ball well and can create for himself. Because of his size, he plays in the post a lot. He can handle himself on the defensive end. We just like him in transition with the ball in his hands.

Eric Wilson              2022 Hartville       6’0    112

A tough, hard-working player from Hartville who can handle it a bit, shoot from distance and force his way inside and score over and around players. He’s physical, strong and has a great work ethic. He also is a great rebounder and knows how to position himself inside.

Team F Kalem Copling

(PLAYER, CLASS, SCHOOL, HT, NUMBER)

Ahlante Askew        2023 Republic       5’8    113

A smart guard who handles the ball well for his age and moves off screens and looks to score and pass to teammates. He is a bouncy player and plays his best when he gives it everything he has. Askew is bound to turn heads. A player to keep your eyes on.

Aden Flood              2023 Webb City    5’11 114

An improved player from a year ago. Flood has increased his overall play, height and floor presence with and without the ball. He uses his speed in the right moments and takes advantage of match ups and can get to the basket and finish in traffic.

Brady Herring                      2022 Weaubleau 6’0    115

A player we haven’t heard a lot about, but we’ve now seen him play. Herring has good size, length and is very smart on the floor. He defends several positions well and can score both inside and out. A clean player who plays hard and stays active.

Benjamin Ipock       2023 Winona        6’0    116

Ipock has good size and skill. His height forces him inside more even though he looked a bit more comfortable outside at times. He played hard and looked to rebound and put up second chance looks. A long frame with an understanding of several positions.

Deion Lee                 2022 MVBT Liberty  6’1 117

A good-sized player who plays tall and uses his length and versatility to score and defend. Lee can handle some and is good at catching the ball and going into attack mode. He has a nice touch around the basket as well.

Cruz Marquez        2022 Southwest   5’8    118

A hard-nosed defender who has a strong frame for his size and can play big if he needs to. He defends the ball well and looks to jump passing lanes and pick off passes. He shot some as well and showed he can score when he’s comfortable and relaxed.

Payton Norris          2024 Jarrett          6’1    121

A very good-sized player for his age who has good hands, nice footwork and can rebound and play strong. He moves in-and-out of the lanes and makes a lot of hustle plays in the paint and around the glass.

Nate Trammell        2023 Ash Grove    5’8    122

Trammell shows potential as a ball handler and scorer. He stays on his man and can block shots and pass ahead. Also comfortable playing physical and can adjust his game depending on the match up and opportunities he’s given.

Daniel Woolford     2022 Republic       5’11 124

A strong, quick player who plays with a nice edge to him. He is very confident and he plays hard and looks to run the floor and finish. Also can take tough shots and get them off against taller players inside and out.
