Aaron Jennings recaps the action at the second annual Future50 Camp&Showcase.

LEBANON, Mo. — The second annuall SWMO Basketball Future 50 Showcase brought together many of the region’s top players last Sunday at Lebanon High. Here is a look at the Class of 2020-2021 boys’ basketball players at the event. The players are listed by the team they played on and their jersey number.

Team C Ron Crowell

(PLAYER, CLASS, SCHOOL, HT, NUMBER)

Hunter Berry           2020 Bolivar         5’11 170

A true threat on both ends of the floor, Berry has a scorer’s mentality, solid athleticism and is a knock down perimeter shooter. He has great game speed and is excellent at creating his own shot and getting inside and scoring in the mid-range area. A player who’s expected to make a huge impression this summer and next season.

Drew Clary               2020 Alton            6’0    172

Clary is an athletic point/shooting guard who can get to the basket, shoot the 3 and shoot the mid-range jumper. He is a good leader with the ball, is a willing passer and brings solid guard qualities to the floor. He can slow things down or speed them up in a flash and plays off the ball well, even when his shot isn’t falling.

Ty Cooper                2022 Reeds Spring  5’11 126

Cooper is tough off the dribble and showed the ability to attack the basket and finish tough chances in traffic. A combo guard who can play on the ball or off, Cooper also made several nice cuts away from the ball throughout the day to free himself up for easy chances. He has an emerging outside shot that he uses to free himself up a little.

Aaron Engleman     2020 Nixa              6’4    175

A good-sized player who emerged at the end of last season for Nixa as a scorer, rebounder and hard-worker. Engleman can play off the ball well and fits nicely into any style of play. He has good reach and can score inside over top of an opponent or connect from mid-range and 3-point range as well.

Bryce Gelle            2021 Clever           6’0    156

A scorer who can make things happen in a variety of ways. He can shoot from deep, and score from mid-range and around the glass. He is also a physical defender who can pick off passes and finish on the opposite end. Gelle doesn’t always get the attention he deserves.

Taylor Genzler                     2020 Clever           6’6    176

A tall post player who fights his way to the basket and lives for contact plays. Genzler has a soft touch to his shot and can use his length to get his shot off in the paint and a few feet from the basket. He plays a solid speed, and can pin the ball on the glass on the defensive end.

Gage Keller            2020 Clearwater   5’11 179

A smart player with a great jumper and a sense for floor space, Keller continues to improve his game. He works hard on the defensive end and jumps passing lanes and forces the ball handler to be alert.

Dakota Lafferty        2020 Sparta          6’2    181

Lafferty has a diverse, well-rounded skill set. He has good size and great athleticism with the ability to play beyond his listed height and around the rim. He can play off the ball well and he moves well off screens and is an active rebounder and defensive presence. A player that made a big impression for those who hadn’t seen him play.

Jeffrey Lung             2021 Miller           5’9    162

Lung has great quickness and a high basketball IQ. He has a versatile, well-rounded game, able to handle the ball, create for himself and others and can knock down the outside shot. A player who finds openings for his teammates and is looking sharper than ever.

Trenton McCarthy   2021 Halfway        5’10 163

A smart player who uses his head and skill to make important plays. He’s an undersized rebounder, a smart passer and a quick scorer. McCarthy moves well and can handle some and score from distance and inside when he sees an opening.

Jamen Smith            2021 Buffalo                     6’0    167

An excellent team player and floor general who thinks of others and plays an unselfish game. Smith battles hard on the floor and he rebounds, blocks shots and looks to keep opponents on their toes. He can shoot well from deep and dominates through his hustle and effort around the glass. Also a skilled and creative facilitator.

Team D Craig Campbell

PLAYER                     CLASS  SCHOOL     HT NUMBER

Jackson Bray            2021 Spokane       5’11 151

Easily the one of the top ball handlers at the event. Bray brings a well-rounded skill set to the court, able to handle the ball and knock down shots from the 3-point line. He has an assortment of floaters and runners in the lane and has a creative eye, able to shake defenders off the bounce and get into the lane.

Drew Cromer           2020 Marshfield   6’3    173

Cromer is a shot maker and shot creator, capable of getting buckets from all over the court. He struggled early, but he can put it on the floor and get to the basket when his deep ball isn’t falling. Also a physical defender and clean up player in transition who outworks his opponents.

Tyren Hendrix         2022 Parkview      5’8    137

A tough-minded guard who likes to lock up opponents and make things difficult for opposing ball handlers. He runs the floor well and can finish in transition and give his teammates looks near the glass. A pass-first player who knows how to score and play physical.

Trey McCarthy         2021 Halfway        5’9    164

Another sharp player from Halfway who competes hard and can connect from distance. McCarthy is a catch-and-shoot player who also works hard on defense. He has the potential and ability to light things up but he can be passive at times and try and get his teammates involved as well.

Andy Morrison        2020 Alton            5’8    183

A tough kid who is very physical and doesn’t move off his line. He goes up for the ball and jumps well for his size. He plays a complimentary style all his own that helps out his team wherever he plays.

Brodie Pollock         2020 Bolivar         6’4    185

A good post player who brings height, length and some bounce to the floor. He attacks the basket off the dribble and is a good offensive rebounder and put back scorer. He can play above the rim on both ends as well.

Nate Swofford                     2020 Ava               5’10 188

An athletic player who has good speed and agility. He plays like his life is at stake. Swofford is a competitive player who works hard on defense and can connect on offense. He’s extremely active and can score inside and out. He gets a lot of open looks through his movement and looked sharp as a facilitator as well.

Jake Tennis              2021 Clever           6’2    168

Tennis is a long, wing player with a smooth game who handles the ball well, can create his own shot off the bounce and plays bigger than his listed height due to his frame. A tough player who can finish around the rim through contact. He goes after the ball and sacrifices himself to make the right play.

Nathaniel Woolford   2020 Republic       6’3    190
