We take a look at the players from one of the teams at the 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase

The 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase, held at Strafford Sports Center on Sunday August 16th, was a huge success and overall a great experience for the players and their respective families! We saw a lot of great players from the area do their thing, with a good portion of the games being very competitive, particularly on the high school side. And now, we get to write about each of the players.

Here, we take a look at some of the younger players on the girls side. This is one of several parts we will be publishing over the coming days.

Akaela Caquelin, 2025 Newburg, 5’5  – Caquelin is a swift guard who can play the 1 or 2, she gets to the rim quickly and scores most of the time. A good defender too, can stay in front of anybody on that end and has quick hands. She brings a lot of energy to the floor.

Audrey Bittle, 2025 Mt Vernon, 5’8  – Bittle has great size and length for her age, especially considering she is mainly a guard. She can handle it well enough to play point guard, and her height enables her to see the floor well and make the pass over the defense. She can also go down low and score inside when called for. A nice up and coming player for the perennially good Mt Vernon program.

Lanney Strong, 2025 Republic, 5’4 – Strong has some very good offensive skills, including a nice looking shot from the perimeter. Also has a good ball fake, which she uses to open up drives to the basket. Lauded for her defensive skills as well, she can adjust to playing any style of defense.

Tyra Henry, 2025 West Plains, 5’3  – Henry is a high motor player who plays hard and without fear, she hustles and gets a lot of rebounds for a girl her size. Made some good passes and got high marks for her defensive skills as well. Equally adept at going left or right with the dribble on offense. Coachable and has a good attitude.

Zoey Dawson, 2025 Licking, 5’4  – Dawson is a solid all around player and is in a great girls basketball program at Licking. She is a guard with solid handles and plays unselfishly. On the defensive end she gives it her all and never quits on plays. On the offensive end, she has a nice shot and doesn’t force things.

Alison Daniels, 2025 Owensville, 5’1  – Daniels brings quickness and superb ball handling skills to the table. She plays with confidence and bigger than her size. Has a nice spin move that she can score off of. On the defensive end, her quickness serves her well, stays in front of who she is guarding and gets steals in transition. Has a lot of talent and a player to watch as she ages and grows.

Madi Phillips, 2025 Mt Vernon, 4’9 – Phillips is small, but quick and fast with the ball, and a great ball handler who rarely turns it over. She is adept at getting to spots with her dribble drive to where she can feed a nice pass to teammates for scores. Seems to enjoy making the pass that leads to buckets as opposed to trying to do it herself. Good basketball IQ serves her well and makes her a coaches favorite.

Resa Martin, 2024 Dixon, 5’7  – Martin has good size and can play any position on the court and score adeptly inside or outside. She can get to the rim off the dribble as well and draw the contact. A tough player, she will be an asset right away in high school varsity ball for Dixon. Has great form on her shot and not someone you want to leave open at the three point line. Got high marks for her defense as well. Has the size, strength and quickness to defend most anyone.
