We take a look at the players from one of the teams at the 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase

The 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase, held at Strafford Sports Center on Sunday August 16th, was a huge success and overall a great experience for the players and their respective families! We saw a lot of great players from the area do their thing, with a good portion of the games being very competitive, particularly on the high school side. And now, we get to write about each of the players.

Here, we take a look at some of the older players on the girls side. This is one of several parts we will be publishing over the coming days.

Marlie Wright, 2023 Greenfield, 5’5 – Wright has a good shot with nice looking form, and when not open she looks to set up her teammates. Coachable and has a good attitude, she has the potential to be a very good varsity player for Greenfield. Aggressive on defense as well.

Ariana Mosley, 2024 Kickapoo, 5’5 – Mosley played up with the older group and showed off her quickness and great ball handling skills. She can get her own shot off the dribble and has a scorer’s mentality. She is fast and can do a lot of damage in transition, either scoring it herself or passing it off for easy buckets. Also can knock down the 3. Lauded for her defensive effort as well. Works hard, loves the game, and has a bright future as she enters her high school years.

Morgan Wright, 2021 Greenfield, 5’6 – Wright is a tough, aggressive player on both ends. On the offensive side, she is fearless when attacking the bucket off the dribble and consistently knocks down open looks from the perimeter and goes full tilt on fast breaks. On defense, she hustles and gets back quickly and is aggressive, whether guarding on or off the ball. Should have a good senior year for Greenfield.

Saria Dean, 2023 Crocker, 5’8 – Dean was cited for being the consummate teammate and being coachable with a great attitude. She simply fills whatever role her coaches ask her to do, and expends great effort in doing so. She is mentally and physically tough and has good size for a young varsity player and can defend or play most any position on the court. Also was cited for her high IQ and always being in the right spot on either end, enabling her to make her impact on the game. Has all the intangibles coaches look for and as her overall skills improve, has a lot of potential as a varsity high school player.

Eternity Knotts, 2022 Republic, 5’8 – Knotts is a tough, relentless high motor player who plays bigger than her size. She goes hard after rebounds and loose balls and more often than not comes up with the 50-50 balls. Has good athletic ability and can get off the floor quickly. Attacks the basket on offense, has good footwork around the basket enabling her to get her shots off against taller defenders. She sees the court well and finds open teammates and not afraid to be physical on the defensive end. Great attitude and a hard worker, doesn’t try to do what she can’t do or force the action.

Haleigh Dryer, 2021 Weaubleau, 5’7 – Dryer can light it up from 3 point range when open, finds the open spots on the perimeter and waits for the pass and on the catch and shoot, she’s very accurate from out there. Overall she is a fundamentally sound player, high basketball IQ, plays within herself and has a great attitude.

KeAnna Rivera, 2022 Ozark, 5’11 – Rivera has great size and strength and when she uses it around the basket, can really clear out a lot of space to grab rebounds or score. Has good footwork on her post moves, favors the step through. Also has a soft tough from mid range and will nail the occasional 3 if she is out there and open. But Rivera’s primary strength is shot blocking. Has an uncanny knack of getting to the right spot at the right time on defense and then instead of swatting at the ball risking foul calls, she holds her position and extends her arms up to get blocks. Probably no one better in the area at doing that. Very unselfish, she catches it at the high post and quickly finds an open perimeter player or a cutter to the basket.

Elisea Daniels, 2021 Lamar, 5’10 – Daniels is a very versatile player who can post up with her size, drive to the basket, or knock down the 3 if open. Cited for her excellent footwork as well and has a quick release on her shot. Rebounds well and looks to block shots on the defensive end. With her ability to score in multiple ways, she should have a big senior season for Lamar.

Miha Nambara, 2022 Republic, 5’5 – Nambara is simply quick and fast, obvious to anyone who steps in the gym and sees her for the first time. Combine that with her excellent ball handling skills and you have a player who can effectively dribble drive and get to the rim. Has a variety of ways to finish smoothly once there, often with flair. Is a knock down shooter as well, can pull up and hit the mid range jumper or sink the three ball. Has a great looking shot form, and a nose for the ball. Nambara shows a knack for chasing down rebounds that most others her size wouldn’t get to. Can make the good pass as well, especially on her drives when the defense has to shift to defend her, leaving a teammate open.
