We take a look at the players from one of the teams at the 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase

The 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase, held at Strafford Sports Center on Sunday August 16th, was a huge success and overall a great experience for the players and their respective families! We saw a lot of great players from the area do their thing, with a good portion of the games being very competitive, particularly on the high school side. And now, we get to write about each of the players.

Here, we take a look at some of the younger players on the boys side. This will be the first of several parts we will be publishing over the coming days.

Brayden Sheppard, 2024 Camdenton, 6’1 – Sheppard showed off his good post skills and great rebounding ability on both ends. He establishes position well on the block with good footwork and touch around the basket. Solid mid range shooter, and great defender against length and size, very strong and finishes well through contact.

Keion Epps, 2025 Jarrett, 5’5 – Epps simply showed up and showed out, as he was one of the standouts of the younger group and led his team to the championship in his division. Can score at will from all 3 levels, deadly 3 point shooter with deep range. Can shoot off the dribble at a high clip, and has multiple separation moves to create space. Reads the defense and then reacts extremely well, can finish through contact and has deceptive timing when attacking the basket, extremely high level change of pace, and lock down defender, who has great instincts off the ball or on the ball getting multiple steals in each game. Does whatever he wants on the basketball court and is one to watch for as he develops physically.

Payton Ament, 2024 Crocker, 5’7 – Ament is a high motor player, tenacious defender, can get to the basket with ease with his quick first step. The type of player coaches love since you never have to worry about his effort.

Braxton Boyer, 2025 Willard, 5’7 – Boyer is a tough combo guard with solid handles that can play the 1 or the 2 efficiently. Great playmaker with a high basketball IQ who makes his teammates better, can score from all 3 levels, has a superior pull up midrange jumper. Also a willing passer.

Ethan Weaver, 2025 Pleasant View, 5’10 – Weaver is a strong combo guard with a solid and quick handle for his size. Can play any of the 3 perimeter positions, great finisher who can draw the contact and finish through it with exceptional body control. Defends at a high level forcing many turnovers. Can shoot the 3 and get to the basket at will, also creating opportunities for his teammates on kick out passes or drop offs after attacking the basket. Weaver is a game changer at both ends. Bright future ahead.

Tanner Atterberry, 2025 Plato, 5’9 – Atterberry is a lanky and athletic player who at just 5’9 had an uncanny knack for altering or blocking shots. An unselfish player who gets his teammates involved and rebounds well at both ends.

Noah Drake, 2025 Norwood, 5’4 – Drake is a solid point guard who can dictate the pace of the offense, scores from all 3 levels, has multiple deceptive moves to get himself to the basket, finishes well against bigger players with good body control. He isn’t afraid of contact, and in fact seems to relish it, and finishes well with either hand. Knockdown catch and shoot player from deep, who also has a good mid range pull up game. Offensively, he’s the complete package, even at his size. Also a scrappy defender.

Hunter Piggott, 2024 Iberia, 5’4 – Piggott is a good ball handler and a very fluid player with very little wasted movement. Unselfish, he’s a willing passer looking to get his teammates involved. He showed off his nice floater in the lane, and he moves well without the ball.

Cooper Miller, 2025 Willard, 5’10 – Miller is a high motor player, solid defender in the post or on the ball, efficient off the dribble in the half court or transition. Can play either forward spot effectively, moves well without the ball, and finishes well around the basket through contact and off of drop off passes. Always seems to be in the right spot offensively.
